Y1 JTLYK 4 April
Dear parents and carers,
It has been a fun last week of spring term, we have done lots of Easter activities that the children have really enjoyed.
On Monday we had a gorgeous afternoon in the sun in the Year 1 area. After learning about the Easter story the children made some amazing Easter gardens filled with beautiful flowers, pebble paths, and empty tombs.
On Tuesday some volunteers from Guildford Baptist church came to school and set up three Easter stations for the children to visit, it was a lovely morning reflecting on the meaning of Easter in creative ways.
Alongside lots of RE, we have also done some great English this week in which the children have written some super Easter acrostic poems.
A highlight of the week was definitely our trip to church on Thursday morning, it was amazing to be together as a whole school.
We also had a Bunny Hop today, this was great fun for the children. Here is a link for sponsorship payments if you would like to sponsor your bunny for their laps today!
In maths, we have been learning all about capacity and volume, experimenting with a variety of containers and water. Practical maths activities are always such fun and the children learn by experimenting and exploring.
We have also been continuing to learn about numbers up to 100. Playing games on paper or an app using a 100 square is a great way to learn the numbers and see the patterns. Try this resource if you would like a screen-based activity or print out a 100 square (below) if you prefer your children to be screen-free.
