Dear parents and carers,

This week the children have impressed themselves as well as their teachers with their incredible writing skills!  They have been writing up the story of The Gingerbread Man that they learned last week.  They used their class story maps to guide them through retelling the story.  They have used their word mats and their ‘Grow the Code’ mats really well to help them with sounding out and spelling.  What great writers they are!   

In maths, the children have been fantastic too! They have been working with numbers to 20, learning to read, write and order numbers to 20.  We have been placing them on number lines and we have compared them using the greater than, less than or equal to.

Exciting Sports Trip to the Spectrum

We have our exciting ‘Sportshall’ visit coming up on Wednesday 12th February.  This is a wonderful opportunity for all of our Year 1 children to take part in a friendly sports competition with other local schools. You should have had a letter by now with the details. We need three or four parent helpers for each class to come so that we can manage the children safely at the Spectrum. Please let us know if you are able to come along. We will leave school promptly in the morning and return by 12.30. The children will have lunch at school as normal.   

Please look out for the letter which will be coming shortly and give your permission.
