JTLYK 6 December
Dear Parents and Carers
Just as a reminder, we would love a few more parent volunteers to help walk the children down to Holy Trinity Church and back on Monday 9th and Wednesday 11th December for their performance. Please let us know if you can be here for 12.45 pm on either day – thank you!
See the Newsletter/ParentMail for evening arrangements regarding drop off and pick up at the Church. As a reminder, they will need to dress as Victorian children and will need a simple costume to wear eg. a long skirt and shawl for girls, a cap and scarf for boys.
Song: Thank You Very Much
Thank you very much
Thank you very much
That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me
I may sound double Dutch
But my delight is such
I feel as if a losing war's been won for me
And if I had a flag, I'd hang me flag out
To add a sort of final victory touch
But since I left me flag at home
I simply have to say:
Thank you very, very, very much
Thank you very much
Thank you very much
That's the nicest thing that anyone's ever done for me
It sounds a bit bizarre
But things the way they are
I feel as if another life's begun for me
And if I had a cannon I would fire it
To add a sort of celebration touch
But since I left me cannon at home
I simply have to say:
Thank you very, very, very much
Song: It feels like Christmas
It's in the singing of a street corner choir
It's going home and getting warm by the fire
It's true, wherever you find love
It feels like Christmas
A cup of kindness that we share with another
A sweet reunion with a friend or a brother
In all the places you find love
It feels like Christmas
It is the season of the heart
A special time of caring
The ways of love made clear
It is the season of the spirit
The message, if we hear it
Is make it last all year
It's in the giving of a gift to another
A pair of mittens that were made by your mother
It's all the ways that we show love
That feel like Christmas
It is the season of the heart
A special time of caring
The ways of love made clear
It is the season of the spirit
The message, if we hear it
Is make it last all year
It's in the giving of a gift to another
A pair of mittens that were made by your mother
It's all the ways that we show love
That feel like Christmas
It's in the singing of a street corner choir
It's going home and getting warm by the fire
It's true, wherever you find love
It feels like Christmas
It's true, wherever you find love
It feels like Christmas
It feels like Christmas
It feels like Christmas
It feels like Christmas
English
We practised using direct speech, remembering to put inverted commas around the actual words that are spoken. Can your child tell you what the other rules are?
Maths
We have started DecemBAR as part of our efforts to improve using bar models in maths. Each day, the children tackle a variety of questions designed to make bar models more accessible. To learn more and try some of the problems at home, visit White Rose Education's DecemBAR page –https://whiteroseeducation.com/resources/decembar#download

Spellings
This week, we have not set any spellings. We did however, run a House spelling competition that every child took part in! Help your child to practise at home a selection from this term’s learning.
DT
This week the children designed and saved their logos that will go on the DT project chocolate boxes. We evaluated existing box designs and started to think about our own designs, drafting 2, before deciding on our final choice. Next week, the children will use the CAD software to make their own chocolate boxes!
RE
This week we have been using the interactive Advent calendar produced by the Diocese. This has resulted in some interesting interpretations on the Bible stories containing ‘light’. You can use this lovely resource as a family by following this link Light In The Darkness - Primary
In our main lesson we have been discussed ‘What did Jesus say about God’s Kingdom and why it is good news?’. We have explored the role of rulers and leaders and pondered a difficult scenario that a leader might have to deal with. Having read some of the stories of miracles that Jesus performed we also pondered what sort of ruler Jesus was. Ask your child how He might have done things differently from a traditional ruler.
PE
Continuing to learn how to play netball, we practised moving around the court using different passes such as chest, bounce, shoulder and overarm but in a game of ‘battleships’ with cones, and it was a lot of fun!
Cathedral Art Project
Please visit the Cathedral over the next few weeks to visit our Year 4 art project!
