Dear parents and carers,

Christmas Play Costumes and logistics

It’s that time of year when we are gearing up for our Pewley Down Christmas Play. This is taking place at Holy Trinity Church on Guildford High Street –see details below.

Beech class will be camels! We will provide head dresses for the children but please could you provide them with a costume which can be any outfit comprising of tops and trousers or leggings that are brown, orange, or yellow.

Oak class are going to be traditional nativity shepherds. A great costume can be made from a slightly oversized t-shirt or shirt with a belt tied round the middle. A head dress can be made by tying a cloth or tea towel around the head with a length of string or head band.

Please could you send your child’s costume into school by Monday 2nd December, we will have a dress rehearsal in school that week. On Friday 6th December we will send your child’s costume home again.

On the day of the play (Tuesday 10th December), please could you send your child into school wearing their costume. They don’t need to bring a school bag to school that day, just a bottle and a coat. This will make dismissing children from the church much easier for everyone. We will send the children home with you direct from the church and won’t be coming back to school unless your child is a regular on the PUPS register that day. If your child needs to go to PUPS we will walk them back to school one everyone else has left.

Can you help us?

If you are available to help us walk the children down to Holy Trinity church for the Christmas play on Tuesday 10th December that would be amazing. Please get in touch to let us know.

We will also need some parent helpers to walk down to St Mary’s church for the carols at 9.45am, and backup to school again, on Tuesday 17th December. We will head back to school at approximately 10.30am. If you’re around please get in touch to let us know, thank you so much in advance! This event is a wonderful carol service with a simple nativity story told by some of the Year One children.

The Wonderful Wild Place

Thanks to all the parents that came with us to the Wild Place again on Thursday. The children love their visits.

We would love more parent helpers to come with us so if you are free and able to join us, please email us. We will leave school at 1.30pm and will return by 2.45pm at the very latest. If you are only available once in a while, please let us know that you might have some availability and we’ll make a note that you are a ‘once in a while’ helper! We’d love any help any time.
