JTLYK 11 October
Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 6 have had a great week in school celebrating Harvest and getting excited for the Christmas Play auditions (see below for more information).
Don’t forget - it’s Fluffy on Friday 18th October. Please don’t forget to make the £1 contribution, which goes towards all the activities planned for the day.
Have a great weekend,
Danni, Jo, Kathryn, Julia, Catherine and Mark.
English
This week, we’ve stepped into the role of journalists, planning a news report for the CBBC Newsround website about the Amazon Rainforest. Our focus is on deforestation and President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s commitment to protecting the rainforest from destruction.
Ask your child if they can remember the features of a newspaper report.
Maths
It has been a very busy week of Maths learning!
We have been thinking about the rules of divisibility, as well as identifying prime, square and cubed numbers.
We have also learnt how to use BIDMAS to help us solve calculations with more than one operation. BIDMAS tells us the correct order:
9 + 4 x 3 + 2 = ?
Coming up
Monday 14 October – HT Photos
We will be having individual school photographs taken. Please ensure your child comes into school in full school uniform and is ready to say “cheese!”
Monday 14 October - Auditions for the Christmas Show
We are delighted to announce that our Christmas show is going to be ‘A Christmas Carol’!
Auditions for on-stage roles will be on Monday 14th October after school 3:15-4:15pm. Auditions may go on later if there is lots of interest in auditioning.
If for any reason your child can’t make it after school, please ask them to speak to their class teacher.
Children who would like to be a part of the back-stage crew will be applying after half term.
