JTLYK 27 September
Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve had a great week looking at an unsolved mystery in history this week. We have been using our investigative skills to work out the mystery of ‘The Princes in the Tower’ and what may have happened to them. Also, we have seen the end of the War of the Roses with the Battle of Bosworth.
In English, the children have been creating their own ending to ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’. We have thoroughly enjoyed reading their stories and reflecting on their use of similes and choice of adjectives and adverbs to help in their descriptions.
In maths, we have focused on addition. The children have explored and practised different mental and written addition techniques. Please do encourage them to have a go at learning their division facts during their maths homework this week. Either though testing themselves or using HIT THE BUTTON: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button
We have had our first house meetings and learned more about the heroes that inspire them. We have also talked to the children about organisation and getting ready for lessons quickly. We are currently working on improving our focus skills by reducing the chatting during lessons and removing distractions from our desks. We are already seeing a difference in their attention! Well done, Year 5.
