Y3 JTLYK 4 April
Dear Parents and Carers,
We had a wonderful final week of the Spring term! Pause Day was on Tuesday and filled with opportunities for children to reflect on the key parts of the Easter story and which values we can live out. The children started the day by learning the key events and using drama to act out and freeze-frame key themes. After that, we went to the Prayer Stations set up by St Saviours where children wrote prayers, and engaged with calming activities, which enabled them to reflect. We also thought a lot about forgiveness, and how to mend a broken heart. Finally, we ended the day by engaging with a very detailed and big prayer mat lent to us by St Mary’s church, which retold the Easter story.
On Thursday, we all visited the church and enjoyed singing and watching most of the school’s adults make a band and perform ‘All We Need is Love’. This was to celebrate and round up this term’s assembly series, which has been all about what love is, and what love is not.
In English, we have continued the story Escape from Pompeii. This week we have been adapting the story in order to plan and write our own action filled, escape stories.
Thank you all for coming in on Thursday afternoon. The children have worked so hard at developing their understanding of tectonic plates and how these are behind the formation of volcanoes and mountains, as well as the cause of most earthquakes. It was lovely for them to be able to share their understanding of this complex topic with you all.
Have a wonderful Easter break!

Year 3&4 Spelling Words
Please see the PDF below for the year 3 and 4 spelling words. Instead of setting spellings this week, we think the Easter holidays would be a good time to select some of the words that have been covered already this year to practise at home, if they still need practising. You could include spellings in a treasure hunt or even be creative with Easter egg hunts where reading and spelling tricky spellings is involved.
3L Swimming – Summer Term
Please remember to bring your swimming kit, including a swimming hat and make sure all your permissions are up to date with the office.
