JTLYK 7 March

Dear Parents,

Thank you for coming to the Parent Consultations. We hope that you found it helpful to talk together about your child and that you enjoyed looking at their lovely work. If you weren’t able to make it please contact us so that we can arrange a time that works for you.

It has been an exciting and busy week this week. It has been our fairy-tale STEM week so we have been involved in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths activities! The week began with a visit from Catherine Cawthorne, the author of the book Big Bad Wolf Investigates Fairy Tales! This was fun, interactive and focused on science. Later in the week we did our own science experiment based on the fairy tale The Gingerbread Man, to establish the dissolving times of gingerbread in different liquids. In computing we learnt that a computer algorithm is a set of instructions that a computer must perform to solve a problem. We did a sequencing and following instructions activity. We have also done some fun maths, measuring a footprint left by the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk. In DT we have built bridges for the goats to cross from the Billy Goats Gruff. We also enjoyed eating delicious pancakes on Tuesday to celebrate Shrove Tuesday and we read lots of new books as part of World Book Day.

Phonics

Please continue to practise all the phonemes and ‘Tricky words’. If you need another list of the words that we have learnt please let us know.
