JTLYK 31 January

Dear Parents,

This week we have been learning about Lunar New Year. On Tuesday we had a visit from Donna who celebrates this festival. She told us about Chinese New Year and how it is celebrated. The children enjoyed making Chinese lanterns, red envelopes with a cut out coin inside, sponge painting and paper folding a snake (it is the year of the snake) and had a go at Chinese writing. On Wednesday we enjoyed a banquet. We sat down together to try noodles, stir fry and crackers. They even had a go at using chopsticks. It was delicious!

Phonics

This week we’ve learnt new phonemes (air and er). Please check Tapestry for some short videos of these phonemes so you can practise at home. Our new tricky words are: are, sure, pure.

House Poetry

On Thursday 6th February the individual houses will be having assemblies where children who have learned a poem or are confident to read out a poem will have the opportunity to do so. If your child would like to take part and you do not have any poems, we have a selection at school and can give them one.

Wild Place

If you can come with us please click on the link to sign up. We will leave around 1:30pm and return to school at 2:45pm.

Please send your child in with a warm coat, gloves, hat, scarf and thick socks for the wellies as it can be really cold at the Wild Place.
