JTLYK 24 January

Dear parents and carers,

Thank you for all your photos of pets, neighbours’ pets and other animals!  If your child has other photos of animals they would like to share, please send them in to us too.  For example, if they see spiders in the garden, fish in a pond at the park or birds in the trees when you are out for a walk, please take a photo and share the photos with us.  They are fantastic to use in our science lessons and we are loving sorting the photos into the different animals groups.

In our design and technology lessons, we are learning how to make our own toys made from fabric.  This week we looked at puppets and toys that we have in our classes and then we experimented with joining fabric using a running stitch.  The children did an amazing job of using a needle and thread and are now excited to plan and make their toys in the coming weeks.

Phonics

We have done some great phonics this week and have learnt four new sounds and some new tricky words too!

Here are the new tricky words and graphemes we have learnt. Please practise them if you get a chance.

Tricky words

school, call, different

Phonics

‘le’ as in apple

‘al’ as in final

‘c’ as in ice

‘ve’ as in give

In addition to the new tricky words we are learning, we also continually revise these words that were taught last term and last year.  Please feel free to revisit these words at home, too.  Thank you!
