JTLYK 17 January
Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had a great start to the spring term and the children have been excited and engaged in our Ancient Greek topic this term. We are already very impressed with their character descriptions and ideas for their own Greek City States. Next week, the children will be using these ideas to plan and write their own Greek Myth. The children will be encouraged to use a range of adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions in their writing.
This week, in our maths lessons, the children have continued to learn about multiplication and division with a specific focus on the 8 times table. The children have been using concrete manipulatives to support them with this and have learnt different strategies, such as the commutative law of multiplication, to support them.
Can you complete these calculations?
Ancient Greek Day
On Friday 7th February we will be having our Year 3 Greek Day. Please can children dress up in simple Greek costumes. A plain sheet over their shoulders works well. Please reuse things you already have and feel free to be as creative as you like.
Spellings
This week’s spellings:
forward, important quarter, therefore, talking, thought, caught, reform
This week we are looking at the phoneme /or/ as in form.
Best wishes,
The Year 3 Team
