Parent Governor Election

Dear Parents

HTPD GOVERNING BODY - ELECTION OF PARENT GOVERNORS NOVEMBER 2024

We currently have two parent governor vacancies on the HTPD governing body as the terms of office of our previous parent governors (Sam Ludlow Taylor and Dave Harris) have come to an end. We are therefore inviting nominations from parents of pupils in both schools. One parent governor will be elected by the parents of pupils at Pewley Down, and one by the parents of pupils at Holy Trinity. All governors will be appointed for a four-year term.

Our existing governors bring a wide range of skills and experience to the governing body but our skills audit indicates that new governors with skills in education, marketing, communications and PR and finance would be a real asset. We are also keen to improve the diversity of the governing body to reflect that of the school community.

If you would like to find out more before you apply, please contact either of the Co-Chairs, Deborah Pepper at dpepper@htpd.surrey.sch.uk or Helen Murray at hmurray@htpd.surrey.sch.uk. Alternatively, do speak to me.

There are two nomination forms (one for Holy Trinity and one for Pewley Down parents) and these are available on the website or from the school office. Only parents of registered current pupils may stand or nominate/second. Please note that a person is disqualified from election or appointment as a parent governor if they are an elected member of the Local Authority or if they work at the school for more than 500 hours in a school year (i.e. for more than one-third of the hours of a full-time equivalent) at the time of election or appointment.

Nomination forms must be signed by the nominee, the proposer and seconder. Nominees may also submit a short personal statement (150 words maximum) about themselves for circulation to parents in the event of a ballot being required.

Please ensure nomination forms are returned to the relevant school office by 12.00 noon on Friday 6th December, marked for the attention of the Headteacher. Late nomination forms will not be accepted. If more than one valid nomination for each school is received then a ballot will be held. Otherwise the nominees proposed will be appointed without further action. The result will be posted at the school and notified via ParentMail.

Yours sincerely

Vicky Ellis, Headteacher
