Dear Parents and Carers,
Another great week has flown by and already we are thinking about Christmas! We spent all day on Thursday exploring the life of the people from the Tudor period. We were lucky enough to be visited by Elizabeth I who was keen to learn about how the very poor lived in this time; the clothes they wore, the food they ate, the houses they lived in and the jobs they did.
In English we have finally finished Macbeth and the children are having a go at writing their own summary of the story in the same style as Shakespeare. A difficult task but they all made a big effort!
In maths we are continuing to look at fractions and we have compared as well as found equivalents.
We have also started to get ready for our Christmas show. Please see the drop down for songs and costumes. The performances on 9th December are for Mandela and Keller, and 11th December for Shackleton and Nightingale.
For DT, Helen’s class (5H) have to bring in their ingredients for TUESDAY 26th NOVEMBER. Please see the drop down.
On Monday 25th year 5 will be taking part in a house cross country up at the downs. It is likely to be muddy so we would suggest bringing a change of shoes for after the race, and NOT wearing their favourite trainers.
URGENT REQUEST: Could you please check that you have responded to the parent mail regarding the residential trip to Brenscombe.

Christmas Show
This year the Christmas show will be ‘A Christmas Carol’ and the year 5’s will be playing the parts of Victorian Street sellers. They will be performing 2 songs as well as the finale song with all of the cast.
Costume
We would suggest that children wear their school trousers and tuck them into their socks and wear a dull coloured shirt with a waist coat, if they have it. They could wear a flat cap if they have one. Alternatively, they could wear a long skirt and plain shirt/blouse with an apron or shawl.
Please DO NOT purchase a brand new costume. If you are having difficulties please contact your class teacher.

5H Cooking
Alison has requested that 5H chefs be reminded to bring in their cooking ingredients for PPA next Tuesday! Most ingredients can be kept in their school bag until their cooking lesson in the afternoon. However, meats and cheeses that need to be refrigerated must be placed in a separate bag from the other ingredients with a name label and date. The children can bring them to Helen on Tuesday morning to go in the fridge. Thank you!
