JTLYK 15 November

Dear parents and carers,

In Maths this week, we have been looking at subtraction. Our learning followed a similar structure to our work on addition where we used our knowledge of number bonds to and within ten to subtract across a ten, from a ten and subtracting a one digit number from a two digit number.

If you are going to practice any maths at home. Please focus on the children's skills when adding and subtracting numbers within twenty. These skills are fundamental to much of our learning this year and the children’s confidence in manipulating these numbers is key.

In History, we started to take a much closer look at our current topic – The Great Fire of London.

We looked at timelines and where this event sits within our learning of more recent British history. We learned about the chronology of events during the week of the fire as well as beginning to look at sources of evidence and how they help us understand what happened in 1666.

We have also spent a lot of time practising for the nativity. Thank you for practising lines at home with the children and we also hope they have come home humming lots of the songs they have been learning.

St Paul's Cathedral Trip

  • Please remember we will be off to St Paul’s on Monday.
  • The children will need a packed lunch, comfy shoes, school uniform and a backpack to carry their things.
  • Please make sure children are in school on time so we can leave promptly at 9
  • We will keep you updated via the office regarding our return time but hope to be back by 3:30/4ish.

We have now sent home a small letter with details regarding nativity costumes. If you haven’t seen it please ask your child or go digging through their bag
