Dear Parents and Carers,
We’ve hit the ground running this week after a well-earned half term break!
This week has seen our first class, 5S, visit the RGS for their topic enrichment Tudor Day. In class, we learned about Mary, Elizabeth and Edward Tudor, finding out how their religious differences impacted people in England and Wales. In English, we have studied two key passages from Macbeth to develop our characterisation and drama performance skills. We then had a go at writing our own version of the famous poem ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’. In maths, we have recapped our knowledge of fractions from Year 4, preparing to study fraction equivalence at a Year 5 level. We have also begun to look at self portraits in our new art unit.
Urgent call for volunteers! We are struggling to meet our adult requirements for all three classes for our visit to St Nicolas Church (Friday afternoon, 15th November). Please do let your class teacher know as soon as possible if you are able to help as we will have to cancel them if we do not have enough adults.
Children will need to be in school uniform for our trips, rather than PE kit. This affects 5K for their RGS trip and 5H for both Friday trips. Children will also need a packed lunch for their RGS day only.
Well done to the children for their hard work this week – it’s lovely to have them back!
