JTLYK 4 October

Dear Parents and Carers,

The children have embraced the world of Shakespeare this week. First, learning about how important he is to English literature, before exploring the first few scenes of Macbeth. The children were gripped by the introduction of our mysterious characters and we are looking forward to exploring these further in the coming weeks.

In maths, the children have impressed us with their subtraction skills. We started the week thinking about mental strategies. Ask your child if they can explain what they are and which of the following they find most useful: rounding and correcting, partitioning, counting back in powers of 10, or counting back on a number line. We then worked on written column subtraction remembering the importance of lining up our place value columns correctly.

In history, we have enjoyed looking at coats of arms and designed one for Henry VII. The children had to think carefully about who he was as a King and what symbols they should choose to represent him. We are looking forward to seeing their personal coats of arms next Monday!

We finished the week enjoying some more time with our Year 4 buddies during Potted Sports. The children did a great job supporting their younger house peers to ‘endure’ even when things got tough.

Have a fantastic weekend.
