Dear parents and carers,

Welcome to Year 4! We hope you had a wonderful summer. It’s great to see your children so well rested and excited about the year ahead. We’ve had a lovely time getting to know each other this week.

Please make a date in your diary for our Meet The Team evening on Thursday 12 September which will be held in Ben and Sarah’s classrooms. We hope it will be an informative evening, which will give you more of an idea about life in Year 4!

To support our history topic – Invaders - we are excited to tell you that we have our fantastic trip to Butser Ancient Farm on Monday 16 September. Please look out for a ParentMail with all the details, and return the permission slip to us as soon as possible. Ideally, we would like the children to come dressed as Iron Age Britons for this trip (please see the pictures for inspiration!). A simple scarf or blanket belted around them is more than sufficient! If this is not possible, then they should wear school uniform. The children can wear trainers or outdoor shoes. Please also keep an eye on the weather forecast and send coats, or sunhats and sun cream, etc. as appropriate. Please remember the children will need a packed lunch for this trip.

We are looking forward to joining our Year 5 buddies for a Chantries trip on Thursday 19 September. We will spend the morning playing team games in the woods, and the afternoon exploring experimental archaeology! The children will need a packed lunch for this trip and will be back at school for the usual pick-up time.
