Dear Parents,

It was just great to see so many of you at one or both of our Meet the Team evenings. It reminded all of us on staff how much we value our supportive home/school partnership. Thank you for your interest, positivity, energy and enthusiasm about the year ahead. It is a real privilege to be sharing in the education of your children.

We started our term’s assembly series this week. We'll be looking at the story of King David from the Old Testament. He was the Israelites' most loved king and known as "a man after God's own heart". He shows us so many Christ-like attributes, but was also fallible and made mistakes. The term's theme also uses traditional tales to encourage us all to look at things from different points of view (what if the Big Bad Wolf was actually trying to check the three little pigs' dwellings for strength to withstand a storm, or if the little red hen had a helpful team right from the start of the story?), together with a weekly punctuation mark which connects the Bible theme with the children's grammar lessons! The theme goes right up to Christmas time, linking in with the Christmas nativity carol "Once in Royal David's city". Do keep a look out for the assembly slides that are published each week on the website if you would like more information about the theme.

Our sporting calendar got underway as well with a phenomenal triumph! The girls’ cross country squad from the junior school were the highest placed team in all year groups (as well as winning many individual medals!) competing against over 9 other schools! What a great start to the year! Do encourage your child to take part in one or more of our extracurricular clubs and thank you in advance for supporting the children’s participation in a huge number of fixtures in the weeks to come. HTPD prayer group
A group of parents from both infants and juniors meet regularly to pray for the school, teachers, staff, students, parents, sporting events etc. If you'd like to know more or join the email group please email suziespeed@gmail.com. Our first meeting of this term will be on Wednesday 27 September straight after drop off until 10am in the Staff room at the Infants. Join us for coffee and cake, younger siblings welcome.

INFANT

Teacher-led clubs (Years 1 & 2)
Teacher-led clubs start week commencing Monday 18 September, except ‘Writing for Fun’ which starts on Wednesday 27 September.

Flu Immunisation
Parents should have received a Nasal Flu Immunisation Consent form this week. Please return completed forms to the school office as soon as possible.

Newsletter
For the first few weeks of term we are producing paper copies of the newsletter. Next Friday will be the last day for paper copies and the newsletter will then be available on the website. Please let the school office know if you still require a paper copy.

Uniform
If you have recently ordered school uniform, orders are now ready for collection from the school office. We would be very grateful if any outstanding payments for uniform could be made as soon as possible.

PUPS reminders
Please collect children from PUPS via the back playground and hall door. The front door will be locked after 4.00pm.
If you no longer require a booked session please contact Sam Andrews on pups@htpd.surrey.sch.uk as soon as possible. If we do not have 24 hours’ notice you will be charged for the session unless we are able to fill the space on the day.
If you are unable to pick your child up by 6.00pm due to an unexpected delay, please contact Sam Andrews as soon as possible. Late collections are charged at £15 for every 15 minutes or part thereof.

Lost:
Daniel Delves, Chestnut Class, has lost a named polo shirt, Shackleton sweatshirt and socks after Football Club on Thursday evening.
Milhan Chauvin, Beech Class, has lost a dark blue Next hoodie following Thursday’s Football Club.
Found:
Child’s blue and red Tikkers watch. Found by one of the Football club coaches and possibly missing for some time.

Tues: Shepherd’s Pie or Butternut & Leek Tart with New Potatoes; Apple Strudel
Weds: Roast Beef with Roast Potatoes or Chickpea & Green Lentil Curry with Rice; Jelly & Fresh Fruit Salad

JUNIOR

Current Year 6
This is a little reminder to the parents and carers of Year 6 children that applications for secondary schools are now open. All of the secondary schools in Guildford are running Open Evenings over the next few weeks. Please check the respective schools’ websites for dates and details so that you can arrange to attend them.

Please note that on-line applications are preferred by SCC, and e-Admissions forms together with further information are available on their website www.surreycc.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/schools/school-admissions/secondary-applications/secondary-school-admissions. Should you require a hard copy, please e-mail schoolbooklets@surreycc.gov.uk or telephone 0300 200 1015.  Paper copies should be returned directly to Surrey County Council. The closing date for all applications for entry in September 2018 is Tuesday, 31st October 2017 and it is vital that you submit your application on or before this date.

Breakfast Club Change
As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, if your child arrives on site before 8.30am, they will need to go to Breakfast Club where they will be looked after until 8.30am when they may go to their classrooms or outside to play (this is supervised by the teacher on duty). This has been happening since we returned to school last week. A register is being kept so that we are aware of who is on site.

As a result, we have reviewed our pricing for breakfast club at Holy Trinity and from Monday, 18th September it will be run on similar lines to that at Pewley. The prices will be as follows
:
The charge for children arriving at Breakfast Club from 08h00 will be £4.00 and will include breakfast.
The charge for a drop-off at/after 08h15 will be £1.50.
ParentPay will be updated early next week to reflect this change. You’ve probably noticed that Breakfast Club for the past 2 weeks hasn’t appeared on the ParentPay statements yet – this will be updated this weekend. Thank you for your assistance! Bev

Allergens
This is to advise you that Harrison Catering has provided the School with a file listing all allergens on the school menus. This file is available in both school offices. If your child has allergies, please do pop in to see the menus. Menus are rotated termly – the file will be updated each term.

After School Clubs
Not all After School Clubs will be on next week so please look out for the Timetable which should be available here. Judo Club (run externally) begins next Tuesday, 12th September.

Knitting Club
If you have any old balls of wool, or knitting needles, may we have them please? There will be a Knitting Club when After School clubs begin, and all resources would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

FOPS AGM
Thank you to everyone that attended the FOPS AGM on Tuesday. This year’s committee members are as follows:

We are still looking for a new chair or a small group of chair persons to take over running FOPS from September. Can YOU help? With educational budgets tightening the fund-raising role of the PTA is becoming more and more vital so please consider it carefully. Bingo! - Saturday 7 October - 6pm - 8pm
We are holding a family BINGO night at HT on Saturday 8 October from 6pm to 8pm. This is a great fun event for all the family, so please support it if you can.

There will be a fish and chip supper and a fully stocked bar will also be available. Back by popular demand, Jes Moon will be our caller and host for the evening.

Tickets will be on sale from next week – more details to follow.

HTSC Meeting – Monday 25 September
Our first committee meeting of the year will take place at 8pm at Rogues. All welcome, please come along and find out more about what we do. We will be discussing our plans for this year and would really welcome new faces and ideas.
