Junior 26/9/14

26 September 2014

A message from the Governors:
Dear Parents and Carers,
At the governors' meeting on Monday, a timetable and list of actions were agreed in order to start the process of appointing a new headteacher for when Richard retires. One of the key points agreed was the need to keep parents and carers informed, and ensure that they had an opportunity to put forward their views. The governors are therefore holding a meeting to provide information on the appointment process and seek parents'/carers' views, and all parents/carers are very welcome to attend. In order to accommodate as many parents and carers as possible, two identical meetings will be held on:
• Tuesday 30th September at 9am in Pewley Down hall and
• Wednesday 1st October at 7.45pm in Holy Trinity Year 6 area.
Parents and carers from either school are welcome to attend whichever meeting is most convenient for them.
At the meetings we will explain the process of appointing a new headteacher and also seek parents'/carers' views on what qualities they consider to be important in the new head of Holy Trinity Pewley Down School.
HTPD Governing Body

For all parents of Year 6 students – may we remind you that the deadline for secondary applications is the 31st October. Parents need to complete and submit the application online or on paper by 31 October 2014. This is in half term so it's suggested that you submit your application by 24th October 2014. Please refer them to the SCC website – the link is: http://new.surreycc.gov.uk/schools-and-learning/schools/school-admissions/apply-for-a-school-place?content=3922

Is your child eligible for free school meals? Please register by the October census for the funding
Please contact the school office if there is any possibility that your child is eligible to receive free school meals or if you would like advice about this scheme and help in making an application. Free school meal registration brings significant funding for the school from the government to support your child’s education in many ways, through the Pupil Premium scheme and other budget funding factors (£5,643 per child for those on the October census). Registering for free school meals is of course entirely confidential. Speak to Lesley or email finance@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk

Even if you do not wish to take up the free school dinner, or your child is receiving free infant meals, there are nevertheless educational benefits for your child if you are registered for free school meals. This needs to be registered immediately as we have to send returns on October 1st.

Threadworms
We have had a case of threadworms in school, for advice and information please follow this see the NHS website www.nhs.uk/conditions/Threadworms/Pages/Introduction.aspx. Please ensure your child is following good handwashing practice at home and school.

Uniform at HT
Uniform can be ordered at any time during the year by completing an order form (download from website) and handing into reception along with a cheque, which is preferable to cash. Cheques should be made out to HTSC Uniform (the PTA runs this so unfortunately not payable on ParentPay). Once your order is processed it will be given to your child’s teacher for them to bring home. We are experiencing a much greater demand than usual so our stocks are very low – please be patient your order will be with you ASAP. No cheques are cashed until your order is complete. Could I please ask you to complete the form in full with house and correct size? It is possible to exchange goods but they must be unworn and unnamed – please try to keep this to a minimum as it just creates extra work. Smaller sizes can be purchased from Pewley Down and larger sizes can be ordered especially.
