Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you so much for your remarkable generosity for our Harvest Festival this week. The display of food at both sites was breath-taking and on Parentpay, we raised nearly £700! We have never before had so much produce given; it was just lovely to be able to sing our thankfulness to God for his provision, and Guildford Foodbank were immensely grateful. They wrote: “Thank you so much for the amazing harvest donations that we collected from you for the Food Bank. It really was a bumper harvest! Please pass on our thanks to the parents & children who gave so generously... it will feed a good number of clients in the weeks ahead. We are still busier than we were pre-covid, & so do really appreciate your support & generosity.”
Yesterday, we were able to meet again face to face as the full governing body of the school. It was such a good meeting – we were able to celebrate the start of the academic year and recognise the contribution that this amazing team of volunteers has made during the pandemic. Individual governors and small committees have continued to work hard to support, challenge and inspire us throughout recent months to make sure that HTPD remained focused on being the best we could be, even through the most challenging of times. Meeting together on Zoom for the last 18 months made sure that we remained connected, but finally being free to meet together in real life was so much better. It was exciting to talk about all that’s going on across the school and to look ahead with hopeful anticipation for what’s next. Do take a look at the governor page of our website to find out a little more about each of these school heroes and feel free to contact them or me if you have any school development suggestions.
Everyone is really excited about next Friday’s FLUFFY (Facilitating learning and understanding on a Friday!). It will be the first time for ages that we’ve been able to run a “proper Fluffy”. For those who don’t know, it’s a day where the children are mixed up across the school and they don’t stay in their classes (apart from in Reception), they don’t wear uniform, and they take part in a whole range of different activities for the whole day. We love seeing new friendships being forged, children meeting different staff and providing them with the opportunity to learn new skills. It does cost more than a usual school day to run so we rely on a donation of £1 from everyone. Please send your child in with the money, or contribute on Parentpay. If you’d like to come and help out, it’s not too late – just email your child’s classteacher. I can’t wait to hear about it all – we all gather together at the end of the day for a special assembly to share the highlights of the day.
With love,
Clare

Baby loss awareness week (9th-15th October) https://babyloss-awareness.org/
You may find it helpful to know that next week is an important week for several families in the school community who have experienced bereavement and grief due to a baby being lost during pregnancy, or in early infancy. As a way of standing beside them, you might like to join in with the “wave of light” that takes place on Saturday 15th at 7pm. Lighting a candle in your window, sharing a photograph of its flickering on social media, and commemorating these little lives will be one way that you can show respect and empathy to those who are remembering babies who have died too soon, demonstrating to them that they are not alone. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest,” Matthew 11, 28.
Online safety information evening
Next Tuesday 12th October at 7pm, Tom Everard (our online safety designated safeguarding lead) will be holding a Zoom meeting to raise awareness of the importance of internet safety for children. The zoom link will be sent out by parentmail. If more than 100 parents attempt to join the call, we’ll hold another session at a later date so please bear with us if you’re unable to log in. It is such an important topic, and we will be happy to run the session again if necessary.

On the reverse of their design please can you fill in the order form - check your child’s name is spelt correctly and is exactly how you would like it printed onto the products and clearly fill in the quantity of each product that you would like to order. Your payment must be made to the school with the order as per the instructions on the sheet. All order forms with payment must be returned by Friday 5 November. HTSC
Hello Everyone!
Thank you for scrolling down….
HTSC meeting
Our first HTSC meeting of the year will be Monday 11th October 8pm at Rogues Pub (in the conservatory at the rear). This is open to everyone aside from class reps, but please let me know if you would like to come by emailing helen@thomasday.co.uk if you are not a class rep. We’ll be discussing bonfire night plans, a Christmassy event and looking ahead to next year’s calendar for fundraising.
Class Reps – please, only 2 classes without a rep!
There are still 2 classes without any – 5JJ and 6S. It is great to share this role so please do consider putting your name forward if you can. Class reps are a liaison between the teacher and the parents of their class, to help HTSC with events at school (organising volunteers), attending HTSC committee meetings (3 per year) organising class/year group social events and of course gifts for teachers at Christmas/end of the school year. If you would like to be a class rep, or need more information please email helen@thomasday.co.uk – 2 per class is ideal.
Here are the reps for this year so far….nearly there!

Bonfire Night – Friday 5th November
Plans are already under way with this event now that we have exchanged on the field. We’ll be sending out more information next week, including how to order your tickets.
