• HTPD GREAT MASQUERADE BALL - TICKETS ON SALE FROM 8.40AM ON FRIDAY 2 FEB

HTPD 27/11/15

27 November 2015

Dear Parents,

We are about to begin one of my favourite parts of the Christian calendar as we celebrate the start of Advent next week. It is a time of waiting, preparation and anticipation – and as we get busier, I like to pause each day and reflect on what the Christmas season is really about. I hope that in the midst of all the excitement, parties, Christmas plays, decorations and fun, all of us hear and understand the message of love.

In both schools as we start to light the candles on our Advent crown, we will be reaching the finale of our assembly series by thinking about the events of the Christmas story. After a term of finding wisdom in so many different places, we’ll be pondering the wisdom of a baby born in a stable, God welcoming the shepherds, a king coming in poverty and a family fleeing persecution. Every year, these ideas prompt superb questions and wonderment!

Of course, we also anticipate the excitement of our Christmas shows; do read details below of how to order tickets for both productions. “Mary Poppins” promises to be a colourful, joyful spectacle at the juniors, and “The Greatest Story Ever Told” will bring a new dimension to the traditional nativity at the infants.

Please do support our school Christmas fairs if you can. Tonight from 6pm, we’ll be joining HTSC for the fair at the juniors, and next Sunday 6th, it’ll be the FOPS fair at the infants. Both are excellent fun and such a good way to raise funds for the school. I’m delighted that so many parents play such an active part in the work of the school and know how much the children benefit. Thank you to all involved!

With best wishes,
Clare

Optional late start, Friday 11 December
Following the week of Christmas productions children at both sites have the option of coming in later (up until 10.30 am) on Friday 11th.

House Poetry
Our house poetry event was a huge success on Tuesday.  Nearly every child joined in and many children read or recited their own poems from home.  The children were so enthusiastic and obviously enjoyed a chance to share some lovely poems.

House Football
Our house football competition took place last week.  Year R and Year 1 had great fun playing football games in their house groups and all played fairly and with great enjoyment.  The competition in Year 2 was very exciting and quite tense with good sportsmanship from all four houses.  The eventual winners were Nightingale.
Ballet Club Show, Thursday 3 December, 3.30pm:   Parents are invited to the Ballet Club end-of-term show, Cinderella, next Thursday at 3.30pm.

Teddy's Christmas Jumper Colouring Competition - Lots of Waterstone's prizes to be won!
Templates for the Curchod’s Christmas Art Competition came home in book bags earlier this week.  The deadline for entries is Tuesday 15 December; please either hand into the School Office or drop into the Curchod’s shop ensuring that child’s name and a contact number are written clearly on the back of the design.   Curchods will display all the entries in their shop from Thursday 17 December and the winners will be announced on Friday 18 December.  This competition is exclusive to HTPD School.
