Junior 9/11/12

09 November 2012

Dear Parents,

Several parents have spoken to me about the letter requesting funds for the school. I am really sorry that some of you were upset by the tone and content of the letter. We had based it on a letter sent out from one of the secondary schools and on reflection I can see that it wasn’t our style. I do understand that education is supposed to be free and that parents are already very generous. Please accept this apology. We have covered the cost of the basic chapel/hall through capital grants and savings. The extras, including links to the school, flooring and seating are highly desirable, but even without these we will be able to use the new building by February.

On a different subject our residential conference was very successful. This is always a time where we work together to ensure that we all share the same vision. This is the key to a united school, where everyone is playing their part. We specifically looked at the writing process and learnt and shared ways to enable our boys to become as successful writers as our girls. Another theme was the need to treat children as individuals who have personal learning styles and multiple intelligences. I am confident that as a result of this in-service children will be inspired to achieve at an even higher level.

With best wishes, Richard

Home School Link Worker
We are very sorry to be saying ‘goodbye’ to Sam Allan who has done a wonderful job as home school link worker at Holy Trinity Pewley Down for the last three years.  Sam is now leaving to set up her own business and we wish her every success. We would love to have a few new games for our successful club. If you have any games that are complete but no longer being used we could give them a good home. Email geraldinet@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk

Rainbow Trust Cake Sale
Well done to Petra Todd and her friends in 4J who raised a total of £42 for the Rainbow Trust by organising the Big Hour Cake Sale before half term. Over 240 cakes were baked, decorated and eaten in aid of the charity who support children with life threatening or terminal illnesses. Thank you to all those children who brought in their money and ate the cakes. After doing some sums 4J reckon that more than 70 children haven't yet paid their 25p. If your child had a Rainbow Trust IOU sticker it would be brilliant if they would bring their money in on Monday. Thank you.
