Junior 16/11/12

16 November 2012

Dear Parents,

We are pleased to be a happy learning community at Holy Trinity Pewley Down. For two hundred years we have been a centre for Christian education in Central/South Guildford and now we are firmly established in the Holy Trinity Ward/Charlotteville area. We strive to be good partners in the community; we do this through providing first-class education as well as being part of the local community and church activity. Last Friday’s bonfire night celebration is a great example of school and community having fun together, as well as raising a lot of money for the school through our excellent parent organisations.

We also have various responsibilities to the area and are well aware that there are certain tensions of living near a school. There is the inevitable noise and bustle particularly at the start and end of the school day. Increased traffic and parking difficulties add to the problems. To this end, please consider parking further out and letting your children walk the last mile or so into school. Please be particularly thoughtful about parking at busy times. This is obviously worse during the building works.

Thank you so much for all that you do to make the school the warm and friendly place it is. Parents are universally positive and helpful. Thank you for your part in making this school community such a happy place to learn and work.

With best wishes, Richard

Netball
What a great couple of weeks of netball we have had with both the year 5 and 6 teams playing. Year 6 secured a win against St. Joseph's with a tight match 6-5. The year 5's played against Queen Eleanor's achieving two wins, 10-0 and 6-4 and Rydes Hill with a win 6-3 and a loss 0-10. Finally the Year 5 team played in the Guildford High School Tournament where they gained an extremely creditable 7th place out of 16 teams, with three wins, a draw and 3 losses. The standard of play was extremely high and the team played fantastically well together.

Cross Country
Congratulations to all involved Cross country. Well done to our cross-country boys and girls teams in our first run of the season. Everyone had a good run and four of our boys came in the top ten and four of our girls in the top 20 with Aoife Russell Moore achieving second place despite a wrong turn!

Football
The boys have enjoyed two football fixtures this week against Queen Eleanor's and St. Thomas's. Great to see so many children out there enjoying their sport! Year 5 at QE won 4-0 and drew 0-0, and on Thursday at HT year 6 lost 6-1 and year 5 lost 3-2 to a very strong St. Thomas’.

Request for Car Seat
