Dear parents and carers

Thank you so much for helping to keep the children really calm over this past week. With the news so full of the impact of Coronavirus, it’s hard to ensure that the children don’t become overly concerned. From yesterday, the advice is that anyone with a fever or a persistent cough should self-isolate for seven days. They should not come to school during this time. Please do call the office team if your child becomes unwell. We are continuing to be vigilant with regard to reminding children to wash their hands, and will keep you informed if the government change their advice in the coming days.

Now that our parents’ evenings are complete at both sites, I know that the teachers are responding to your comments about the children in their classes. It’s good to hear about your perspective on their progress and great to reflect on the fantastic partnership that we share with you. Thank you for your ongoing support. Do get in touch if for whatever reason you missed out on an appointment – we can easily organise a meeting before the Easter break.

How amazing to see the money still coming in for the Pitch! With just over a week to go on the crowdfunding campaign, let’s see what the final few days can bring. And the launch of this year’s Fun Run t-shirt design competition is sure to herald the best fun run yet. Please do put the event in your diary, book your places, invite others to come along and let’s make it a huge success.

It’s been a musical week; we’re gearing up for the annual Primary Music Festival at GLive later in March – after weeks of practising, the orchestra headed off to Northmead School on Tuesday for their first combined rehearsal. It was excellent hearing over 80 musicians playing together. Next week the combined choir will gather for the first time before the big event later in the term. Year 1 also had a fantastic opportunity to sing with the head of music from St Hilary’s – he led them in over an hour of singing, clapping and rhythm games. Both singing assemblies were also just great. The benefits of singing together are well known, and it certainly did me good to join in with them.

With best wishes, Clare

Thought of the week: “Anyone who is in Christ is a new creation,” 2 Corinthians 5, 17. What’s your potential for change?

#MeToo evening meet-up
After the success of our first coffee morning, we will be holding a second meet-up on March 24th in the evening, to make it more accessible to working parents.

With the aim of breaking down stigma and to provide a supportive safe place for survivors, HTPD parents (past and present) warmly invite anyone who has experienced abuse to a #MeToo meet-up . This is not a counselling group, but an informal gathering of women with similar experiences who may like the opportunity to meet others. Whilst this group has the full backing of the school, it isn’t held on site, to respect anonymity. If you’re interested in coming along, please contact sophiecazalet@hotmail.co.uk for further details about time and venue. Any correspondence will be kept confidential.

The group is open to (female only) parents and carers.

If this feels relevant to you but doesn’t appeal, the charity RASASC based in Guildford provide free specialist support services and can be contacted at admin@rasasc-guildford.org

HTSC

Hi Everyone,

Unless we are instructed otherwise due to Covid-19, our school events are still going ahead as planned.

Crowdfunding for Pitch 2020
Thank you for the huge amount of support you have shown for our Crowdfunding campaign. With just over a week to go, we have raised £8,415 which is just incredible! The last date for accepting donations for this campaign is Saturday 21st March. We’re not far off the £10K we are aiming for. If you would like to read more about the pitch and donate you can do so here. Please feel free to share with family members, friends or any ex-parents that you think may like to support the school. It’s very simple to donate and it would be great to raise as much as we can through this channel if we are unable to host some of our events later in the year. https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/htpitch2020

Quiz Night – Sat 28th March
Tickets are £12.50 per person – please drop in exact cash or cheque payable to HTSC to the school office in an envelope with your email address/number of tickets by Friday 20th March. There will be a fully stocked bar and a delicious curry will be provided by Raj Doot in Burpham. We hope the new date is more popular and we can give the teacher team some serious competition!

HTPD Fun Run – 3rd May 2020 @ Sutherland Memorial Park
Please see below message from the Fun Run Team

Applications for the 2020 HTPD fun run on Sunday May 3rd at Sutherland Memorial Park, Burpham, Guildford are now open!

Last year 250 children and adults took part, with many more cheering on. Families made the most of a lovely day, relaxing on picnic blankets and playing games, with the PTA selling food and drinks, and we raised c£3,000 for the school. This year the focus is on raising money for the new multi-use games area pitch, so we really hope you can make the event to raise as much money as possible. All the money you contribute will go to the pitch fund, so it is a huge help to the school.

Event times are:

  • 1.00pm - Adults 1km to 5km run (do as many laps as you want this year!!)
  • 2.00pm - Pewley Down 1k run
  • 2.30pm - Holy Trinity 2k run
  • 2:45pm - Toddler Dash

To register please complete the online application form. To help reduce the admin requirements for the team and to use less paper we request you complete the online form. If you do not have access to a computer, a paper application form can be collected from the school reception.

Second Hand Uniform
If you have any logo uniform, summer dresses, shorts etc. in age 8+ that you no longer need, please contact Simone Childlow (Maisie Year 3, Finn Year 5) via email simonechidlow@googlemail.com who is collecting it and storing it on our behalf for a uniform sale after Easter (please do not bring into school - we have no room to store it on site).

Matched Funding
If your company has a matched funding scheme for giving your time to support a charity, please do get in touch. We can provide our charity number and letters of proof of volunteering and funds raised for a particular event or stall – each scheme is different so please email me if you think your company can match any of our fundraising this year to reach our fundraising target.

Reminder - dates for your diary:
HTSC Meeting – Thursday 19th March @ 8pm Rogues Bar
HTSC Quiz night – Saturday 28th March
