• HTPD GREAT MASQUERADE BALL - TICKETS ON SALE FROM 8.40AM ON FRIDAY 2 FEB

HTPD 18/3/16

18 March 2016

Dear Parents,

The term seems to have flown by! And here we are approaching the final week before the holidays. Next week, we will be bringing our assembly series to an end by reflecting on the events of Holy Week. Our final characters to come “face to face” with Jesus were those who witnessed the crucifixion and resurrection, and who realised the transforming power of God’s sacrificial love. We will be celebrating with a service for the whole school at Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday at 9.30am – parents who would like to join us could help by walking down with the children from school at 9am. This will be the first time this year when the whole school gathers in one place, as we are joined by our youngest reception classes.

With the political news focusing on the future of schools working together, it was great to be part of a Guildford event where this already happens – the annual primary school music festival at G-Live was attended by 12 local primary and infant schools, and our choir and orchestra represented HTPD so well. Congratulations to all those who performed and thanks to Lauren for rehearsing with them so brilliantly! We’ve also seen success on the netball court at a town wide tournament at which our Year 5 and Year 6 teams excelled, and a Surrey cross-country event last weekend where our runners pitted their stamina against the county’s elite.

Another area of the curriculum has also been accentuated this week at the juniors with the children taking part in the first school spelling competition. The children competed in their classes to find qualifiers for the year group challenge, with the winners then taking part in a final round in front of the whole school. Nightingale won in both Y3/4 and Y5/6 with Marcus and Ritvik being our school spelling champions!

Year 1 meanwhile enjoyed a super trip to Guildford castle, made all the more enjoyable by the spring sunshine. Likewise, Sports’ Relief taking place today has meant plenty of different opportunities to get outdoors with every year group either running or scooting to raise money for this good cause. Thank you so much for your generous contributions – we’ll let you know how much we raised.

With best wishes
Clare

FOPS NEWS

A massive thank you to everyone who helped out to make Super Sunday such a success.

There was a great response to the Movie Afternoon, which the children enjoyed greatly and many thanks for the effort that went into providing the film and snacks, which freed up parents to participate in the Action Sunday

The feedback we have had from parents and staff alike is that they are amazed at the transformation of the Reception and year 2 areas, as well as the front of the school and just how hard everyone worked!

Next term’s FOPs meeting is on Wednesday 13th April. We are always looking for new ideas for fund raising and social events. If you are not able to join us, tell your class rep and it will be discussed at the meeting.
