Infant 28/3/13

28 March 2013

Dear Parents,

At the end of the term I want to say a big thank you to you all for making my job so pleasant and rewarding, and for all the volunteering which is greatly helping the children to make great strides in progress. You are just such a great group to work with, unfailingly helpful, understanding and co-operative. Children benefit so much from the efforts of parents working directly with them. This is particularly true in the many reading groups and also in encouraging your children to take part in Mathletics. By the way, we are already seeing a real correlation between Mathletics and progress in classroom maths.

We all enjoyed our Easter Service at Holy Trinity Church yesterday. It was the last service when we were led by Judy Dickinson’s excellent and sensitive playing, and the first service where our boys’ choirs performed a medley of love songs to round off our theme for the term, which was “learn to love”. The service focussed on the words of St. Paul to the Romans, “Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. Rosie and I mentioned several things which may try to separate us, and agreed that in all circumstances we can be sure of God’s love for us. This is the true heart of the Easter message, that through Jesus’s dying and rising again, God shows his consistent, unconditional love.

Do have a very happy Easter and enjoy the break. Let’s hope for some warmer weather!

With best wishes, Richard

FOPS NEWS

Barn Dance
Despite the snow, we had a good turn out for the Spring Barn Dance on Saturday. We soon warmed up and parents and children had great fun dancing together! Thank you to the band, Pat and John from the Wessex Barn Dance Band, for keeping us on our toes. Thank you too to all those who helped set up and clear away at the end. We will let you know how much we raised for the school shortly.

FOPS Meeting
The next FOPS meeting will be taking place on Monday 22 April at 8pm in the staff room. We will be considering projects around the school which require our financial support. All are very welcome!
We will also be planning the Summer Fair so if you would like to be involved, please join us!

We are also considering a Summer Party for parents. We need a team to organise this. If you love party planning or just love a good party, we would love to hear from you. Please contact Emily (emilybourke@msn.com).

Easy2Name
We have set up a fundraising arrangement with Easy2Name, who sell a wide variety of name tapes, stickers, shoe bags etc. Easy2Name will pay 20% commission on any order to the school. So if you're running out of name tapes, please consider www.easy2name.com and quote "Holy Trinity Pewley Down School GU1".

We wish you all a very Happy Easter holiday and look forward to some exciting events next term.
