Infant 15/3/13

15 March 2013

Dear Parents,

Well it’s the end of Comic Relief Day at HTPD and it has been great day for everyone involved. I am so grateful to the staff at both sites for making it such a fun and enjoyable day for all the children. We have also remembered those children in the UK and Africa who will benefit from the large amount of money we have raised it has been a great effort. There are many pictures that remain in my mind and I live of fear that some of them will appear on the website, in fact I hear they are already there!

School should always be seen as a community where we learn together in so many different ways. Today new lessons were learnt, not just in cake decoration or belly dancing, but in being a group of people who can have fun and enjoy working together for a worthwhile cause.

I hope you enjoy watching some of the Comic Relief television this evening and contributing still more to this great cause.

Thank you very indeed.
With best wishes, Richard

Comic Relief:   A very big ‘thank you’ for everything today:   the donations, fancy dress costumes and the cakes.  The children have had a great day taking part in different activities to raise money for Comic Relief; the total so far is £500 and counting … Special thanks for the videos which were brilliant fun and the children obviously enjoyed making them.

Music:   It has been a very musical week with the curriculum trails and house music carousel. ACM (Guildford Academy for Contemporary Music) visited us on Thursday morning for a workshop where the children learnt about the different instruments in a band and played games related to rhythm and working as part of a team.

Year 1 tree houses:   The Pop Up Tree House Company visited Year 1 on Wednesday and the children enjoyed making miniature tree houses with them.  They also make full size tree houses for schools or gardens, see their website at: www.popuptreehouses.co.uk.

Mathletics:   We are really pleased so many children are enjoying the Mathletics website.  If you still haven’t managed to have a go, why not log on this weekend and let Sheena (Walnut Class) know how you are getting on.

Start of the school day:   It has been very chilly this week and understandably some of you have kept warm in the library in the mornings.  However, please remember that children must not be left alone in the library before school; staff are not available to supervise them until the doors open at 8.40 am.
