• HT Christmas Fair Donations Day - Friday 24 Nov - Mufti for HT

HTPD 23/6/17

23 June 2017

Dear Parents,

With the heat earlier in the week, we’re all really looking forward to next Monday’s midsummer break. The children and staff were cheerfully resilient as temperatures soared, but we’re all much more focused and able to learn today! It’s been super welcoming our new Year 3 and new reception families into the infants and juniors and it’s reminded us all how close we are to the end of the school year. We’re starting to plan how to say goodbye to the staff that are moving on – I’m sure many of you would like to contribute to leaving gifts for Patrick, Jo and Maggie. Do pop into either office. Maggie has worked at the school for more than 20 years and has had a remarkable impact on so many children’s lives. We’d love to celebrate and say thank you to her in style!

The Year 6 children return from their week in Shropshire this afternoon. If you’d like a flavour of the trip do take a look on Twitter @HTPDSchool. My particular favourite is the group singing in the midst of a summer downpour – “seeing heaven in the moment” in all sorts of different circumstances! All the children impressed me with their independence, camaraderie and readiness to tackle any challenge so enthusiastically. I returned to school on Wednesday having felt like I’d been on holiday – I’m sure not many headteachers could say that after 3 days away with nearly 100 children! But it really was a treat!

One consequence of the hot weather is the effect on air quality. Can I request again that if you are waiting outside the school gates in your car to please turn off your engine? Our assembly series this week has taken the theme of living simply – it was interesting how many children spoke about walking to and from school as one of their favourite things to do. Perhaps you could park up slightly further away and take a short walk with your child, having time to stop and smell the flowers!

With best wishes
Clare

The school will be closed on Monday 26 June for the midsummer holiday.

HTPD Summer Party
Thank you to everyone who went along and partied the night away Cuban-style at Weybourne house last weekend. The evening raised huge amounts for the school with the Silent Auction contributing amazingly to the total. New FOPS committee needed
Another school year is drawing to an end and we are looking for a new chair or a small group of chair persons to take over running FOPS from September. Can YOU help? With educational budgets tightening the fund raising role of the PTA is becoming more and more vital so please consider it carefully. To find out more please email Jill, Nicci or Sue or nab us for a chat.
