Junior 26/6/15

26 June 2015

Dear parents

One thing I have discovered in life is to always take opportunities which are presented to you. As parents we try to give our children great experiences as well as a stable and loving home. When we lived in America with our two girls, we first came across the concept of ‘making memories’ and we have continued to do that throughout our children’s lives. Tomorrow (Saturday) for my 63rd birthday treat my son Ollie and I are climbing Sharp Edge and Blencathra in the Lake District – a challenge for me and hopefully a happy memory for us both.

Children at HTPD are given lots of memory-making activities from a day at West Wittering in Year 2 to a week in North Shropshire in Year 6. The children so enjoy these and they learn important lessons for life. Our children as individuals also take part in a wide variety of activities representing their town and county at tennis, skating and diving. Next week I am hoping to see Petra Todd as she appears in Carmen at the Coliseum Theatre with the English National Opera. It will be great experience and I will even try to get her to sign my programme!

Next year Clare may well introduce a list of experiences which we have been considering which children will have the opportunity to have from Year 1 to Year 6.

So this weekend, I do hope you can all get outside and make some memories and I will let you know how it went at Blencathra.

With best wishes, Richard

Congratulations to all our school gardeners for achieving Silver in “Guildford in Bloom”.

Please note that the school is closed next Monday, 29th June, for our mid-term holiday.

Job Opportunities
We are looking to appoint a range of part time Teaching Assistants to work across the school, supporting children with English as an additional language, working with particular individuals with special educational needs and being part of the everyday life of a classroom. The posts will be suitable for people who have excellent communication skills in English, are numerate and who have the ability to work flexibly and effectively on their own and as part of a team. The successful applicants will love children, live out our values and be keen to join in enthusiastically with our school community. Please see the Vacancies tab on our school website to see a job description and find the Application Form that you will need to complete and send to Bev Reed either by hand or email to recruiting@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk. Please note that the HTPD Federation is committed to safeguarding and all appointments are subject to enhanced clearance by the Disclosure and Barring Service. Start Date: Wednesday 2nd September 2015.

Calling for an accounts examiner
The school needs to appoint an ‘independent examiner’ to review the voluntary funds accounts annually. This could be a parent as long as the person is not operationally involved with managing those funds and activities. It should be someone qualified to review accounts who has approximately two or three days available annually to complete this work. Please speak to Lesley in the finance office or to Richard or Clare. Thanks.

After School Clubs
Please note that the Years 5 and 6 Tennis After School Club next Tuesday has had to be cancelled – Matt is getting married!! We wish him and his bride a long and happy life together.

Also, there will be no sports clubs next Thursday due to outside fixtures.

Settling accounts before the year end
There are less than 4 weeks to the end of term and we would like to get accounts settled please – there is a lot of money outstanding across the school. We are sending home yellow bills that reflect any amounts outstanding as at before lunch Thurs 25th (Clubs as at Monday 22nd). The amounts on the bills DON’T INCLUDE CREDIT FOR LUNCH to the end of term. Please estimate lunches @ £2.40 per meal and clubs use to the term end. If your child eats every day then an additional £40.80 should be added to the lunch total. Year 6 and other leavers will be refunded any remaining credit at the term end (or it can be transferred to remaining siblings). If you have any queries, please contact Lesley and Flora – finance@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk

We end the year with a Celebration together, at Bec Clifts's house on Thursday 2nd July at 7.45pm. All welcome! Contact Emma Laporte for details emmalaporte@hotmail.com.
