Junior 3/7/15

03 July 2015

Dear Parents

Another year, another district sports and another Holy Trinity win in all the year groups and over all, boys and girls, field and track. Although this has happened for at least the last sixteen years and most years before that, it only comes about by commitment hard work, resilience and true grit. To see Charlie Kefford or Ayla Darcy (just two out of sixty plus examples) powering towards the finish tape with a real sense of determination in every fibre of their bodies, was a great sight. We are all so proud of our team, who along with all the other schools, competed in these friendly games and made it a joyous occasion. As senior headteacher it falls to me to present the trophies, this can be a little embarrassing as you can imagine, but actually this year the crowds were hugely appreciative of the teamwork and sportsmanship that all the girls and boys had shown.

The whole event was masterminded and organised by our own Gillian, who of course trained the team. I am so grateful to her and also Julia at Pewley who bring so much to the children. At both schools skills, fitness and sportsmanship are at the heart of our games and PE teaching. I was particularly thrilled by the healthy week at Pewley two weeks ago which Julia organised with her special enthusiasm and flair.

Now Gillian is leaving us at the end of term and we all want to say an enormous thank you to her for her dedication and devotion to her task. She is a great role model for us all; children and staff alike.

There will be an opportunity for parents and children who would like to meet up with Gillian following the HT sports day on 14 July. I do hope many of you will be able to come along. Parents who would like to contribute to a gift for Gillian please hand it in to the front office.

Now I am off to join Year 3 on Newlands Corner for the afternoon. No space left to write about my exit interview with Surrey County Council – suffice to say they had never had such a positive response from a leaving head and that will come as no surprise as I have often said how blessed and fortunate I am to be doing the best job in the world, where every day brings so many joys and so few difficulties. More of that with some thoughts for the future over the next two weeks.

With best wishes, Richard

Change for Life Club has now finished for the term. It is hoped that the club will re-start in September.

Tempest Class Photographs
Please note that the final deadline for returning photograph orders is Monday 6 July. Any orders made after that time will have to be made directly with Tempest.

County Finals
Well done to all of the children who took part in both the County Finals of the Mini-tennis and Rounders competitions at the Surrey Sport Park in the sweltering Wednesday sunshine! They all did well with some nail biting close matches.

District Sports
What a lovely afternoon it turned out to be for our District Sports competition yesterday afternoon up at the Urnfield. We saw so many great athletic performances across both track and field events and the spirit of the competition was lovely. Holy Trinity managed to secure wins across all for year groups with a shared first position in Year 4 with QE. Congratulations to all of our athletes and huge thanks to all of our team of teachers, parents, students and friends for all of your help and support.

Please could I ask everyone to return the school kit to us next week, thanks.

Gillian Rodgers
Following HT Sports Day on Tuesday 14 July there will be refreshments at 3.30pm to say 'Thank You and Farewell' to Gillian, we hope you can join us.

Settling accounts before the year end
There are less than 4 weeks to the end of term and we would like to get accounts settled please – there is a lot of money outstanding across the school. We are sending home yellow bills that reflect any amounts outstanding as at before lunch Thurs 25th (Clubs as at Monday 22nd). The amounts on the bills DON’T INCLUDE CREDIT FOR LUNCH to the end of term. Please estimate lunches @ £2.40 per meal and clubs use to the term end. If your child eats every day then an additional £40.80 should be added to the lunch total. Year 6 and other leavers will be refunded any remaining credit at the term end (or it can be transferred to remaining siblings). If you have any queries, please contact Lesley and Flora – finance@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk

Calling for an accounts examiner
The school needs to appoint an ‘independent examiner’ to review the voluntary funds accounts annually. This could be a parent as long as the person is not operationally involved with managing those funds and activities. It should be someone qualified to review accounts who has approximately two or three days available annually to complete this work. Please speak to Lesley in the finance office or to Richard or Clare. Thanks.

Year 6 Yearbook photo CDs now available to order.
Great selection of house group and Airhop photos for just £5. Please download the order form, or collect one from the office.
