Infant 19/7/13

Dear Parents

One of our parents Charles Wiles runs the company below and has very kindly donated computer equipment to us. I think parents will be interested in the information he has sent me.

Huntzz Ltd. recently gave some Kindles for the children to use in school, and to celebrate the launch of their Guildford treasure hunts, up until Saturday 3rd August, Huntzz Ltd. is donating all profits from £9.99 memberships to the school.

The £9.99 Membership gives you lifetime free access to their growing list of mobile treasure hunts that make if more fun and educational for you and your children to discover historic places and museums in the UK and abroad. You can watch the video of the piece that BBC Click did on Huntzz here and see a full list of their growing hunts hereThe Guildford treasure hunt is an enjoyable two hour activity on the high street learning about Guildford's fascinating history.

To buy a Huntzz membership simply search for "Huntzz" in the Apple App Store or Google Play, install the basic free app on your iPhone or Android device and buy a "£9.99 Gold Membership" through an in-app purchase.  Be sure to purchase your membership before Sat 3 August ... in fact why not do it now!  And feel free to tell your friends and family too, all profit from membership purchased before 3 August will be donated to the school. Huntzz Ltd is run by HTS parent Charles Wiles, so feel free to email him at charles@huntzz.com if you have any questions.

I think it’s great and will be good fun to do in the holidays!

We will be having another Newsletter on Wednesday 24th July when I will be giving a review of this up and down term.

With best wishes, Richard

Monday 22 July
Year 1 are having a ‘pyjama day’ on Monday.  Please send your children in cool, comfy pyjamas – nothing too warm and woolly.  If you have no suitable pyjamas just send them in shorts and t-shirt.

Year R are having a ‘water day’.  They should come to school in their uniform and bring a named plastic bag with their swimming costume, a t-shirt (which they don’t mind getting wet) and a towel.

Dates for September
Tuesday 3rd     -  Inset Day
Wedneday 4th   -  Start of term (Years 1 and 2)
Thursday 5th     -  Start of term (Reception)
Tuesday 10th    -  Meet the Team evening, 7.00pm
Tuesday 17th    -  Year 1 trip to Wisley.  If you might be able to help please let Emily or Hannah know.

Library Books
We have quite a number of books missing from the library.  PLEASE have a good look round at home over the weekend and return any library books by Monday 22nd.

Lost Property
Lost property will be on a table in the playground next week.  Please check it even if you don't think you've lost anything as bits appear at the end of term from months ago!

School Lunches

From September, the price of school lunches at both sites will be £2.30 – a 10p increase, less than 5%. Food and other costs have gone up astronomically and our catering service needs to break even. The lunch offering is of a high standard and most would agree that this is still very good value.

National Trust activities
Look out for the list of ’50 things to do before you’re 11 3/4 ‘ coming home in book bags today.

Teaching Assistant Positions
We are looking for 2 Special Needs TA's to start working within the Holy Trinity Pewley Down Federation in September. One position is for 30 hours and the other will be fewer hours, but at this point we are unable to determine the exact number of hours required for the second position. If you are interested, please contact Bev Reed on bevr@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk for an Application Form. All completed application forms to be received by 24 July!
