Infant - 13 January

13 January 2012

Dear Parents

We hope to be launching our brand new website this weekend. We are not quite sure when our hosts will actually make it all happen, so check from time to time. I do hope you like it and feel that it gives you access to information that you need. Please could I remind you of the importance of reading the newsletter and checking ‘Just to let you know’ (JTLYK) every week? News stories will be regularly changing with ultimately about a dozen accessed through the home page and older stories in photo archives. I am particularly pleased that our values are placed firmly on the home page so everyone understands what we stand for.

I would be really pleased to receive feedback and suggestions of how we can improve it. A governor has already suggested an alumni page for news of former students and staff. We may also have a guest book for messages from visitors to the site. We are having a hit counter applied to each page so we can see how our message is getting out to people.

There are three people who have worked really hard on this building project. I would like to thank Louise Crow-Arnold for all her hard work in setting up the site and enabling transfer of material. Liz Pomeroy for great photographs and liaison with our professional builders, and Natalie Savage for help with the initial concept and guidance right through the project. I E Marketing based in Bristol have done a great job in putting it all together and responding to all our requests.

Nowadays, a well built website is a vital piece of running a school; providing a window on all its work and activity.

With best wishes.
Richard

Headlice
We have had a number of cases of headlice recently, especially in Year 1. Please check your child’s hair and treat if necessary:

  • It is worth checking your child’s hair regularly (once a week) for eggs or lice.
  • If you do find nits give the hair a thorough comb through with a nit comb (the Nitty Gritty Nit Free Comb is particularly effective). A generous application of conditioner also makes the combing easier.
  • Continue to comb through the hair at least every three days for two weeks to ensure that all eggs and lice are eradicated. Otherwise any eggs missed in the first comb through will hatch and the whole cycle will start again.

Nits are a very common problem among primary age children who usually catch them due to close contact with their classmates.
