Head Lice
We have had several cases of head lice reported in the school recently, mainly in Years 3 and 5. Please refer to the following website for further information: www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Head-lice. Many thanks.

Jewellery
We have an increasing number of children coming into school wearing jewellery including pierced earrings. For safety reasons, we do ask the children to remove jewellery prior to PE to make sure no fingers are caught in bands, or scratches result from earring posts. Earrings must either be removed or covered with tape when your child is doing PE or playing sport. Please would you ensure that your child has a roll of micro-tape in their PE bags as the office is unable to supply this.

Help!
We are looking for a home for our 'Wheel of Fortune' game. We have absolutely no more storage space at school and would like someone to look after this excellent fundraising game. Do you have some space in a dry garage, barn or outbuilding? If so, please contact nickw@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk

Hockey Camp on Tuesday 18 February 2014
Sophie Bray, a current GB Hockey International, will lead a hockey camp here at HT. Sophie will have just returned from representing England in 3 internationals over in the USA. This is a great opportunity to receive up to date coaching and to meet one of our up and coming athletes. The day will consist of 2 sessions, 9–12, and 1–4. The children will be supervised over lunchtime. The cost will be £30 for the whole day or £15 for half a day. If you would like your child to attend or require any further information, please email maryb@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk and she will collate the information and send out the registration form.

Aquathlon
What a brilliant morning we had at the inaugural Aquathlon held at St. Teresa's. All of the children were amazing; they swam in a freezing pool, climbed straight out and ran outside for about 100m in their costumes before their transition into their running clothes. All of this was done with tremendous positivity and determination! Great results included a 1st and 5th for Michael Naisby and Toby Grimshaw, 1st and 3rd for Ayla Darcy and Hebe Poole in Year 4, 1st and 2nd for Eliza Sutton and Poppy Isaacs, 3rd, 4th and 5th for Joe Fuller, Finn Doyle and Charlie Kefford in Year 5 and 5th places for Tilly Gough and Olly Witts in Year 6. Whilst these children all got medals and cups, all of our participants deserved big congratulations.

Swimming
Well done to all of our swimmers in the ESSA relays gala. The competition was fierce out of 25 schools for the girls and out of 23 schools for the boys. They all gave their best.

Football
The Year 6's had a good match this week vs. Boxgrove losing narrowly 0-2 in a well contested game.

Netball
We had two good matches this week vs. Queen Eleanor's with both teams winning 15-1 and 4-3. The girls have all made great progress. Sorry there will not be any netball club on Tuesday as we have an away fixture. Any Year 6's who would like to come along on Monday are most welcome.

Sportshall Athletics
We had a lot of fun at the first Years 3 and 4 Sportshall Athletics competition on Monday afternoon. 11 teams competed from across Guildford in a range of running and field activities. The Year 3's achieved 6th place and the year 4's came 1st overall. The energy and enthusiasm were fantastic; well done to everyone involved.

Hockey
The U11 girls entered the Surrey Tournament on Tuesday at Cranleigh. In a tough group including two semi-finalists and runners-up, the girls acquitted themselves well and developed as the tournament progressed. Great to see them involved in such a prestigious competition. Apologies, there will be no club on Wednesday as we have a home fixture on the astro-turf.

HTPD Prayer Group
The date of the next meeting is Tuesday 11 February, at 12 noon, at Elaine Fitzwater’s house. We meet for lunch (provided) and all are welcome! Contact Emma Laporte for details – emmalaporte@hotmail.com.

Found (at Spectrum): complete swimming kit in HTPD bag (Adidas navy trunks with blue stripe, light brown towel, blue/yellow goggles). Please contact Pewley Down office.

Half Term Netball Camps
There will be several netball camps running during half term. I will be running them alongside a group of Sixth Form netballers from Tormead School who would enjoy sharing their skills. Camps will run as follows:
• Wednesday 19 February 9am – 12pm Years 3 and 4
• Thursday 20 February 9am – 12pm Year 5
• Thursday 20 February 1–4pm for Year 6
There will be a charge of £15 per camp. All money raised will go towards the Wings of Hope children’s charity, which believes in the ‘transformative power of education’. The charity provides free education to poor and underprivileged children through their schools projects in India and Malawi. These projects are funded primarily by the Wings of Hope National Social Enterprise programme for UK school students, in which the girls are taking part. If you are interested in participating, please contact gillianr@holytrinity.surrey.sch.uk for more details. It would be great to see lots of children there!

Bags will be sent home with the children over the next few weeks – do please fill these with your unwanted textiles and leave them at the bottom of the atrium. Black bin liners can also be used.
