HTPD 18/12/15

18 December 2015

Dear Parents,

What a fantastic term it’s been! Thank you so much to the children especially for working so hard, for joining in with school life so enthusiastically and for living out our values every day. I do want to pass on my thanks to all of you as well – for making my first term as head such a positive and happy one.

We’ve really enjoyed celebrating Christmas together over this last week; the “carols around the tree” assembly at the infants was delightful,  as well as the chance to share the fun of the panto. At the juniors, the week began with a re-enactment of the Roman census, giving us all a chance to discover more about where each other comes from. On Tuesday, Mary and Joseph visited assembly and then on Wednesday we had a host of angels appear at breaktime, bringing peace and good will to all people! There have been plenty of opportunities to “see heaven in the moment.”

Finally, before we all relax at the end of a busy term, we say goodbye and good luck to Christine as she moves on to a new adventure; I want to thank her publicly for her hard work and commitment to the school over many years. Also, very best wishes to Tom as he starts married life after a Christmas wedding!

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas holiday – I’m looking forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus for a second time, this time with my family, now that the school Christmas is over! Have a restful and peaceful Christmas. See you in the New Year! Remember we start back on Wednesday January 6th.

With best wishes
Clare

Email address update
One important change to note for next term is that our staff email system is being updated – we are moving over to a new domain making it easier to function as one school. All staff will now share the same address whether they work at the juniors or at the infants (so for example, I will be using the address clareb@htpd.surrey.sch.uk – we’ll publish the new addresses on the website. I’m afraid due to the changeover we won’t be receiving emails until the New Year.

Christmas Play collections
Thank you for your generous donations to Jigsaw Southeast – the combined total over both sites was just over £1000.

Thank you
A very big ‘thank you’ from all the staff for all the lovely cards and presents we have received.  Your kind thoughts are very much appreciated.

HTPD 11/12/15

11 December 2015

Dear Parents,

As I write, I’m still in the afterglow of the final nativity performance at the infants and anticipating the last night of Mary Poppins at the juniors. What a wonderful week it has been! All the children have worked so hard to bring so much joy – I’ve loved hearing them singing the songs from the shows all around the school. From “Supercalifragilistic” to “Ring out the bells”, everyone has something to sing! Thank you so much for providing costumes and for your kind messages to the staff. The whole team has worked tirelessly this week. Well done to them all!

Next week, we will be focusing on the events of the Nativity again, starting at the juniors with a re-enactment of the census on Monday (in fact we’ve asked them all to check where they were born this weekend). The celebrations will culminate with “Carols around the Tree” at the infants at 9.15am on Wednesday and our junior school carol service at Holy Trinity Church at 1.45pm on Thursday. Do join us if you would like to.

If any parents could help to walk the children to and from the church we would be so grateful.  Please let your child’s class teacher know.   We will be leaving school at 1.15 p.m. so helpers should arrive at school for 1.00 p.m.  Thank you

With best wishes, Clare

HTPD 4/12/15

04 December 2015

Dear Parents,

This week’s character in assembly was Little Miss Sunshine, who, together with the arrival of Christmas trees, decorations and play rehearsals, brought smiles to all of our faces. We reminded each other that bringing peace and goodwill into someone else’s life gives each of us a purpose. One of the favourite benefits of my job is being greeted every morning so cheerfully by all of the children!

Debbie has done her bit too to bring joy into the life of the school. She has lovingly made the staff at both the infants and the juniors a bespoke Advent calendar. Behind each door is an instruction to share the goodwill with a specific part of the HTPD team…so far the SEN team, Year 6, and the Clubs+ staff have been treated to kind words, cups of tea and encouragement.  It’s great fun seeing what each day’s Advent window reveals.

I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you a little about the charity that we have chosen to support this year from the generous donations given at the Christmas productions. Every year, once we have covered the costs of staging two spectacular shows, we like to support a charity which has links with the school. This year, we are planning to give “Jigsaw Southeast” a sum of money. This organisation works with children (including some of our own) who are facing family upheaval due to someone becoming seriously ill, or dying. They help the children remember special memories they have, start challenging conversations and look at how to deal with difficult feelings. They help families try and put the pieces back together. Little Miss Sunshine would really love the work they do! I do hope you feel able to support them – Mary Poppins, and Mary and Joseph, will be passing around their hats after the shows!
If you would like to know more about Jigsaw Southeast, you can look them up at
www.jigsawsoutheast.org.uk.

Looking forward to what promises to be a fantastic set of performances next week! I’m sure I’ll see many of you in the audience.

With best wishes,
Clare

FOPS News

Thank you for all the donations for the Christmas Fair that were delivered to school on Monday.

Christmas Fair
Preparations for the Christmas fair are underway and many hands make light work. If you can help in anyway please contact either your class rep, Susanne smw555@hotmail.com or just turn up.

We will be decorating the school hall in preparation for the festive period and setting up the Christmas Fair on Friday 4 December (7pm until 9pm) and Saturday 5 December (10am until midday and 2pm until 4pm). There is a lot to do, setting up the stalls and hanging Christmas bunting, so please volunteer to help set up or clear away at the end of the Fair.

Class reps have now prepared stall rotas for the fair that can be found near your child’s classroom. Please support the reps and the school by signing up to help run stalls. Each year group is looking for about 24 people, so we need your help.

Raffle Tickets
You should have received 2 books of raffle tickets in book bags last week with amazing prizes on offer. Please try to sell as many as possible to family and friends. Please re-use the envelope the raffle tickets came in to return all money, completed counterfoils and unsold tickets to the school office by Friday 4th December. If possible please fold each counterfoil in quarters.

Christmas Performance DVD
A letter will be going in your book bags regarding the school performance DVD with details of how this can be ordered for delivery before the Christmas holidays. It makes a great stocking filler for family and friends that are not able to attend.
