Infant 21/12/12

21 December 2012

Dear Parents,

I am pretty sure that this is the latest finish that we have ever had in the Autumn term.  Staff and children are tired but numbers and morale have stayed very high on both sites. The big advantage of the late finish is that we have been able to spread out the Christmas events and spend more time absorbing the wonder that is Christmas.

Two events have been real highlights this week; Carols ‘round the Tree at the infants and our Carol Service at Holy Trinity Church for years Two to Six, Both were moving and meaningful events which in child’s language put across the great truth:

‘The Maker of the stars and sea
Became a Child on Earth for me’

In fact, John Betjeman’s Christmas poem was quoted on both occasions.  Year Two children wrote our prayers which concentrated on our duty of love and care for others and Class 6C put together their joint ideas on Jesus’ birth to form the culmination of the Carol Service.

This morning at the juniors as well as the staff spoof on Scrooge and the final part of the Royal History series, we shared Michael Morpurgo’s Christmas Story of the shepherds who was left behind.  At the infants, we had an impromptu nativity with our Reception children acting out the main parts.  The simplicity was beautiful and we hope will continue to make good memories of happy school Christmases.

I do wish you all a very happy Christmas.  Thank you so much for all your cards and presents.  Have a great time and we look forward to meeting you again on Tuesday 8th January.

With best wishes, Richard
